He started late. He still made it.
Dailian Mason didn't pick up a basketball until he was 15. Within a few years, he was playing professionally. What happened between those two points became the foundation for School of Skill.
15.
Most players have already been playing for years.
Dailian was just beginning. He had ground to make up, so everything had to be intentional. Learn what you don't know. Apply it. Improve. Repeat.
The work was relentless. The support wasn't always there. But the belief was.
That process took him from a late starter to a professional basketball player by his early 20s.

“Learn. Grow. Succeed.” wasn't created as a slogan. It describes the process he lived.
Dailian MasonOur Philosophy
Learn. Grow. Succeed.
The principle that shaped my journey. The foundation of everything we do.
Learn
Understand the game. Understand yourself. Be willing to be taught.
Grow
Put knowledge into practice. Train. Make mistakes. Build confidence and capability.
Succeed
Turn development into opportunity, in basketball, education and life.
Then basketball took him somewhere unexpected
The Player Became a Teacher.
After playing professionally, Dailian moved deeper into education, becoming a degree-holding, qualified PE teacher.
He worked at a Pupil Referral Unit, supporting young people academically, pastorally and through sport. That changed how he understood coaching. He wasn't only seeing young players anymore, he was seeing different levels of confidence, behaviour, ability and circumstance.
Basketball could be the key to far more than basketball.

So he built the programme he would have wanted at 15
School of Skill.
We use basketball as a vehicle to develop young people. Different environments. One philosophy. Real pathways.
In Schools
Engaging curriculum, clubs and enrichment that inspire and develop.
In PRUs
Structured programmes that build confidence, focus and life skills.
Player Development
Individual and group coaching that builds skill, IQ and character.
Feeder to Elite
Preparing players for academy and higher trials.
National League
Competing at senior level in the National Basketball League.
The destination isn't the same for every young person. The principle is: help them learn, give them somewhere to grow, create opportunities to succeed.

Today, The Work Continues
Today, The Work Continues.
Dailian is the head coach of Smethwick Sparks Basketball, competing in the National League.
He delivers high-quality programmes across schools, Pupil Referral Units and player-development settings, creating pathways that open doors for young people.
Every Player Starts Somewhere.
Some want to make a team. Some want to play at the highest level they can. Others simply need somewhere to belong, something to work towards, or someone to believe there is more in them. Where they start matters less than what happens next.
